When is the DEADLINE date for each month?
Please have your advertisements in our hands by the day following the last Wednesday of each month.

What file formats are preferred by CLUE for advertisement insertions?
Preferred Programs for Mac:
Quark XPRESS, PageMaker, Illustrator, Indexing, Photoshop

Preferred Programs for PC:

Quark xpress, PageMaker, CorelDraw, Ventura, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop Note: Programs from Microsoft like Publisher, Word, and Excell as well as Wordperfect cause problems. They simply were not designed to work with high end image setting
devices. Ad layouts created in these programs are very labour intensive to prepare for output.

Document Size: (Full Page) Finished trim - 8 1/8" x 10 3/4" (8.125" x 10.750") Image area - 7 1/8" x 9 3/4" (7.125" x 9.750")

Bleeds: Ads that require bleed will need the background image to extend a 1/4" (.250") past trim line. All other important or critical text and images must be 1/4" (.250") back from trim line.

Colour: Two colour ads must be separated in the customer file. We recommend the customer designates their colour as cyan or magenta, which is universal with all programs. If they have used a PMS number as the designated colour, it must be consistent throughout the file. For example PMS 200U & PMS 200C will be considered as two different colours
not one, resulting in 2 colour negatives being generated for one colour. Ads that are supplied four colour are very labour intensive to convert to two colour, and are usually very limited as to what came be made the second or spot colour.

Fonts: All active fonts in the layout (both screen and printer) must be sent with the file, preferable in a separate font folder. Even common fonts such as Arial, Times or Helvetica must be with the file.

Images: When the reproduction size of original is 100%, pictures to be reproduced in black and white should be scanned in greyscale mode at 170 DPI (dots per inch) and line art scanned in line art mode at a minimum of 600 to 1,200 DPI. If the original requires
reduction or enlargement, the DPI must be adjusted accordingly. Example; enlargement to 150%, scan at 255 DPI, which is 50% more than 170 DPI. (Note: some scanners will automatically adjust DPI to compensate for reduction or enlargement of scans. If your
scanner does not have this feature you will have to make the adjustment manually as described above) In most cases we adjust our customers scans for print ability on our presses. However, we can only do this if the scans are not embedded or saved in the file.
Pictures and line art must be saved as Tiff’s or EPS files, and placed in a separate folder. Do not save as JPEG’s or other formats.
